Belmopan cops investigate fourth murder victim
But the killings were not confined to the deadly streets of Belize City, cops in the nation’s capital also have a murder mystery to solve tonight. Head of the National C.I.B. office in Belmopan, Senior Superintendent James Magdaleno, explained the bizarre discovery they made on Sunday morning.
Sr. Supt. James Magdaleno, Head, Nat’l C.I.B.
“About four-fifteen a.m. on the twenty-sixth Belmopan police received information of shots being fired in the preceding area of Belmopan, police visited the area where they discovered a beach cruiser bicycle in a drain on the side of the road on that same area. Further checks were made and we discovered three knives with bloodstain, six nine mm expended shells, two slugs and a cellular phone. On the twenty-sixth about seven-thirty when it was first light police returned to the scene in the area and continued to make searches in the area and about twenty-five yards in the bushes they came across the body of a dark complexioned male person lying face up covered with dry leaves, apparently dead. That person has been identified as Cordel Cayetano, twenty-four years, of a Belmopan/Roaring Creek address. He had what appears to be gunshot wounds to his abdomen, two wounds on the left chest area and a wound on the left side of his head. The investigation continues in Belmopan, we have no suspects at this time.”
