Two men charged following sexual offense at municipal airstrip
In news from the Magistrates’ Court, two men were slapped with offenses of a sexual nature. The first is thirty four-year old Guatemalan, Jose Ramos, who was charged with unlawful carnal knowledge of a fifteen year old girl. The girl reported to police that Ramos had sex with her at a security booth at the municipal airstrip on July fifteenth and seventeenth. In this instance, the prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that Ramos is a foreigner, has a previous conviction for aggravated assault of an indecent nature and that the offence has become prevalent. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie upheld the objection and remanded Ramos in custody until August twenty-fifth.
The other man, sixty-four year old Pedro Sanchez Senior, a watchman at the Municipal Airstrip, was charged with Aggravated Assault of an Indecent Nature of the same fifteen year old girl. The teenager reported that Sanchez fondled her breasts before his friend Jose Ramos had sex with her. Sanchez pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail of three thousand dollars. His case was adjourned until September first.
