Accounting firm hit five times in one month
It has been targeted by robbers five times in one month and in two instances thieves managed to gain access to the accounting firm of Castillo, Sanchez and Burrell on Central American Boulevard. And to ward off any further robbery attempts, the firm has undergone renovations to secure the building.
Shawn Mahler, Audit Manager, Castillo Sanchez and Burrell L.L.P.
“It actually happened in a span of two weeks within June.”
Marion Ali
“The two times they got in, where did they get in and what did they make off with?”
Shawn Mahler
“Basically the first time they went with one computer and the second time they went with a computer and cash; total in all, five thousand dollars with two computers and about fifteen hundred in equipment and cash. We normally don’t have cash around in the office but they took us on a day when there was actually transacting at the end of the day that we had some cash available.”

“And because of that do you all think that it might be an inside job?”
Shawn Mahler
“No, we don’t suspect that it’s an inside job, it has to be somebody within the area. As you know, this area is very prone to break-ins and for several years we’ve had break-ins but not this much in a span of this short of a time. In order to get into the different offices to get the computers they went through the ceiling so they really ripped up the office for the last attempt. They ripped through the office and they’ve been ripping through our walls.”
Mahler says the company has also invested in enhancing the security features which will hopefully put an end to the routine attempts by criminal elements to penetrate the building.
