Woman accused of torching ex-common law’s house
In other news from Magistrates’ Court, a woman is facing a charge of Arson after allegedly setting fire to a plywood house. Thirty-two year old Hilda Locario, a resident of Tibruce Street, is accused of torching the house belonging to her ex common-law husband, twenty-three year old Herbert Bodden. In court this morning, the woman was offered bail of three thousand dollars and the case was adjourned until August twenty-eighth.
Bodden reported to police that he was awoken by noises outside his house at about two o’clock this morning. He says that he heard Locario calling him and when he ignored her, she threatened to burn down his house. Bodden claims he was fearful and proceeded next door to his mother’s house for safety from where he soon detected that the back door of his house was on fire. Bodden said he immediately began to put out the fire but nonetheless, a stereo, a forty horse power engine, a box of fiberglass cloth and three pairs of slippers were destroyed in the blaze.
