Police officer charged with Manslaughter by Negligence
The incident happened on July fifth, and today police report that they are bringing charges on a member of the force. Thirty-four year old Michael Cob of San Ignacio is being charged with the offences of Manslaughter by Negligence, Causing Death by Careless Conduct and Driving Without Due Care and Attention. The police officer has been charged in connection with the death of twenty-seven year old Carlos Cassanova of Benque Viejo, which occurred in the wee hours of July fifth between Miles sixty-nine and seventy on the Western Highway. When police visited the scene, they found a Toyota 4-Runner on the left side of the road, a yellow Kawasaki motorcycle on the right and Casanova in the nearby bushes. Police believe that Cob, who was driving the 4-Runner, collided head on with Cassanova, who was travelling on the motorcycle.
