City Council announces further disruptions in Albert St. traffic
The bumpy ride on Albert Street is now compounded by the closure of various sections of this thoroughfare in the heart of the City while construction works take place to upgrade streets in the downtown area. As of six o’clock this morning, the Belize City Council closed off a section of the main artery to facilitate utility companies to finish their underground repairs. The closures run for entire twelve-hour periods and will affect traffic flow for the rest of this week.
The section of Albert Street from its junction with Ferrell’s Lane to Saint John’s Cathedral will remain closed until six o’clock Wednesday evening. This means that vehicles will not be allowed to venture on that part of the street for that period of time.
For motorists who traffic the portion extending from Dean Street to Ferrell’s Lane, you will need to exercise the same level of patience as that section will also be closed to vehicular traffic. That closure will take effect on Thursday from, you guessed it, six in the morning to six in the evening.
But the portion of Albert Street that will perhaps create the most inconvenience is that portion of the downtown area from Treasury Lane, which is adjacent to the Battlefield Park, all the way up to Dean Street. This closure, which will take effect on Friday and Saturday, will also run from sunrise to sunset on both days.
