Leon Walford charged with Attempted Murder
Twenty-three year old Leon Walford was charged with Attempted Murder and denied bail when he appeared today in Magistrates’ Court. The charges relate to the stabbing of twenty-nine year old Cedrick Martinez which occurred around one-twenty-four a.m. on Sunday. Martinez, a resident of Bocotora Street, reported to the police that he was standing at the corner of Iguana and Bocotora Streets when Walford approached him and stabbed him on the left side of his rib cage. Martinez was admitted at the K.H.M.H. under critical condition. The doctor who examined him classified his injury as Dangerous Harm. Police say that the stabbing was because of an ‘old beef’ between the two men. The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the offence is of a serious nature and that Walford has a pending trial for the charge of robbery. Magistrate Sharon Fraser upheld the objection and remanded Walford into custody until August thirteenth. In addition to Attempted Murder, Walford was charged with Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm.
