Belmopan Magistrates’ Court jacked over the weekend
Courtrooms are normally the place where people who are wronged seek justice. But over the weekend, the Belmopan Court located at the market square in the nation’s capital, was targeted by burglars. This morning when staff showed up for work at the court building they discovered that thieves broke into their office and helped themselves to whatever they found in sight. The bandits gained entrance by prying open the lock and deadbolt. Once inside, they packed up the office’s only computer that contained court data, and removed phone cards and a few land documents offered for bail. News Five understands that while it will be a tedious job for court employees to re-enter their files into a new system, all is not lost, as there are back-up hard copies of various files.
