Chamber of Commerce organizes roundtable on amendments
Prime Minister Barrow has withdrawn some proposals to amend the Constitution, but it doesn’t mean that the discussions are over. Tonight the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organising a roundtable discussion to clear the maze surrounding the content and implications of the Sixth Amendment Bill. C.E.O. of the Belize Chamber of Commerce explains.
Kevin Herrera, C.E.O., Belize Chamber of Commerce
“You’re aware that over the past couple weeks, especially maybe in the last week actually, there’s been a tremendous amount of concern and discussions on the constitution sixth amendment bill 2008 that has been proposed by the Government of Belize. The chamber has many members and is a member of the community and so feels it necessary to have set up a forum, a roundtable discussion so that people at the end of this process will understand the bill better than they do now, understand the contents of that bill and the implications, and hopefully at the end of this process will have more information where they can make up their minds and what aspects of it will be good for them and what aspects of it they may want to see changes made.”
The participants of the discussion include Senator Henry Gordon, Senator Godwin Hulse, Attorney Jacqueline Marshalleck and Mr. Kevin Herrera as moderator. Attorney General Wilfred Elrington has been invited but at news time there is no confirmation of his participation.
Tune in tonight at eight on this station for live coverage of the roundtable discussion.
