Young poets get a chance to make big bucks
Most artists in Belize will tell you that practicing their craft does not yield much financial benefits, but tonight poets are being given an opportunity to earn some serious cash. The Foundation for Mexican Literature is accepting submission for the Poetry for Children Award 2008. Interested persons are asked to submit a book, ten to fifty pages in length, written for children. The top poet will receive two hundred thousand pesos or approximately thirty-eight thousand Belize dollars and will have their submission published by Fondo de Cultura Economica. Deadline for entries is July thirty-first. All writers, regardless of their nationality or residence are entitled to participate. For more information visit www.fundacionletrasmexicanas.org.
