Government gives green light to text book programme

It was the cause of much adverse publicity by the then opposition before the elections; we refer to the textbook programme that was initiated by the past administration. The Ministry of Education today sent out a release on the matter, and to show you how things change and stay the same, the ministry continues to oppose the programme but then concedes that for the “coming 2008-2009 school year, the programme will continue without amendments.” The Ministry also makes the point that all students will be provided with textbooks under the programme, and that no changes will be introduced at this time.
