Accused grenade bomber faces new charges

Police threw the book at the alleged grenade bomber, Akeen Smith, who already faces the rap for murder, adding six new charges relating to the same incident in May in which sixteen year old Darren Trapp was killed and eleven others injured. When he appeared in Court today, Smith was charged with three counts of Grievous Harm, two counts of Wounding and one count of Harm. The charges of grievous harm are for the victims Erwin James, Kendis Flowers and Darrel Myvett. The charges of wounding are for Sharee Smith and Clinton Gordon. The charge of harm is for Tyron Meighan.

Police say Smith is likely to face another charge relating to dangerous harm or maim in respect of the victim Teddy Reyes and is to return to court on August eighth. The grenade attack and explosion occurred on Sunday night, May eighteenth on Mayflower Street. Akeem and his brother, Kareem were charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the incident.
