Belize in L.A./U.S. Gov’t assist storm victims
Victims of Tropical Storm Arthur are set to receive added relief in the wake of the storm which caused over seventy million dollars in destruction primarily in the south of the country. Today, Los Angeles based Consul General Roland Yorke, presented a cheque of nineteen thousand U.S. dollars to NEMO’s new Coordinator, Noreen Fairweather, in Belmopan. The funds were raised through several activities organised by the Consulate.
And tomorrow, the Ambassador Robert Dieter will be delivering to the Red Cross a little more on behalf of the U.S. Government. The monies, twenty-five thousand dollars U.S., will be used for the purchase and transport of relief supplies. Earlier this month, the United States handed over sixty thousand dollars worth of relief supplies to the Red Cross.
