Burglar steals from funeral parlor

Story PictureBurglars are known to break into just about any place, but one thief has taken it one notch further and broke into a place known to service the dead. Kent Vernon aka ‘Krokus,’ is charged with the burglary of a funeral parlor. This morning Krokus appeared before Senior Magistrate Dorothy Flowers in Court Number Two. Vernon, who was unrepresented, was informed that the penalty for burglary was a minimum of five years. He pleaded Guilty, took time to reconsider his plea and consequently changed his plea to Not Guilty. Vernon was offered bail in the sum of four thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount which he was unable to meet and was taken into custody. Vernon is due back before the court on October twenty eight. Police say that sometime between September twenty second and September twenty fourth, Vernon broke into a funeral parlor at the corner of number four Periwinkle and Mahogany Street. A number of items valued at four hundred dollars were stolen. Police arrested Vernon after an eyewitness identified him as the man who was seen breaking into the establishment.
