Corozal farmer wins $127,500 Lotto jackpot

The heat wave gripping Belize has most of us seeing red but tonight a Corozal farmer is seeing green after he hit last Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot. According to Santa Clara villager Miguel Angel Sanchez, he’s been an avid player for years and could hardly believe his good luck when he realized he’d won one hundred and twenty-seven thousand five hundred dollars.

“And how did you pick the numbers?”

“I just kept trying. I’d picked one and then erase it until I got it right. I’m going to fix my house and help my children with this money. I have two grand-daughters in college. I’m going to invest some of it and save the rest.”

Sanchez’s winning numbers were 03-13-23-30 and 31. After taxes Sanchez took home one hundred and eight thousand three hundred and seventy-five bucks.
