… While burglary suspect alleges more brutality in San Pedro
There are serious doubts regarding his innocence of a major burglary in San Pedro, but there are perhaps more troubling questions over how police handled his detention. In addition to facing criminal charges, twenty-five year old Nigel Peters is also sporting the face of a boxer who went twelve rounds with Mike Tyson. Peters, a security guard, says he was framed by a younger brother and now police have taken it out on him.

“He works there? How he get a key?”
Nigel Peters
“No, he noh work deh.”
Marion Ali
“How he get a key?”
Nigel Peters
“They keys, I get it from somebody else.”
Marion Ali
“And how your bredda get di key?”
Nigel Peters
“From me.”
Marion Ali
“So you gave your brother the key?”
Nigel Peters
“Yeah.”
Marion Ali
“That doesn’t make you look guilty, as guilty as the person who broke in?”
Nigel Peters
“Well, that’s true but then dehn no find me with anything.”
Marion Ali
“Does your brother work there?”
Nigel Peters
“No”
Marion Ali
“So why you give ah di key?”
Nigel Peters
“Because dah somebody else tell me fi do it.”
Marion Ali
“Which somebody?”
Nigel Peters
“The bartender.”
Marion Ali
“Your bartender told you? Is he your boss? Is you bartender your supervisor?”
Nigel Peters
“No ma’am.”
Marion Ali
“Can he give you that kinda directive?”
Nigel Peters
“No ma’am.”
Marion Ali
“So, don’t you see this as you being as guilty as the guy who committed the crime?”
Nigel Peters
“Yes ma’am.”
Marion Ali
“First you said it was a key movement because nobody broke in but you know exactly how it happened because you gave your brother the key.”
Nigel Peters
“I never was at the post though.”
Marion Ali
“It doesn’t matter, you gave him access to the place.”
Nigel Peters
“Well …”
Marion Ali
“Don’t you see that as being irresponsible as the security guard? Why would he need the key? He doesn’t work there, he is not staying there.”
Nigel Peters
“That is true.”
Marion Ali
“But why did you give him the key?”
Nigel Peters
“Because the person tell me to give him.”
Marion Ali
“Didn’t you ask that person “well, why should I pass on this key?”
Nigel Peters
“Cause then he talk to him already.”
Marion Ali
“About?”
Nigel Peters
“Getting in the place.”
This afternoon Peters was escorted by police to the K.H.M.H. to have a doctor classify his wounds. He was then denied bail and remanded to Hattieville Prison until June twenty fifth. Meanwhile, the younger brother he accuses of committing the crime, twenty year old Donovan Tillett, has also been charged and remanded. The bartender remains detained in San Pedro. The burglary in question occurred Monday night at the San Pedro Holiday Hotel. Over sixty thousand dollars worth of jewelry and cash was stolen, some of which has been recovered.
