Mexico offers scholarships to Belizeans
It’s that time of year when students who are thinking of furthering their education begin preparations for the August intake. But if you are one of the hundreds still looking for financing, listen up. The Mexican government today announced that it will be offering forty-one scholarships over the next two years. For the 2008 academic year, the embassy will be accepting applications for eighteen technical degree scholarships at any CONALEP campus and four for Bachelor Degree scholarships at any Mexican university. The Government of Belize will be financing fifteen of those CONALEP scholarships, while our northern neighbour will foot the bill for the remaining three plus the four Bachelors degree grants. The plan for the 2009 academic year is to offer four technical degree scholarships and fifteen at the Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate level. Deadline for CONALEP submissions is May twenty-third, while Bachelor applications must be in by July thirty-first. For further information, contact the Institute of Mexico at 223-1408 or email institutodemexico@embamex.bz. The scholarships come as a result of an Educational and Cultural Agreement between the two countries.
