Luncheon honours K.H.M.H. nurses
Today is International Nurses Day and the senior staff at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, in the company of Minister of Health Pablo Marin, held a special luncheon to pay homage to the over one hundred and eighty nurses at the hospital. According to Director of Nursing at the K.H.M.H., Mavis Palacio, the profession sometimes gets a bad rap that is not deserved.

“We usually think about the patient before we think about ourselves. So in a reality yes, you’ll not hear a lot of things sung about nurses but then we do have some very good nurses who are very dedicated to their patients and will go all out for their patients.”
“As we all know that the ninety-nine percent of the things good that is done is barely ever seen but when our nurses, if anything should go wrong we do investigations, we hear both parties side and then we make a decision afterward. Sometimes we have had who, they came and make allegations against them that aren’t really true. When they’re at fault they are disciplined. We use the disciplinary procedures laid out by the institution.”
Nurses Week is being observed under the theme: Delivering Quality, Serving Communities: Nurses Leading Primary Health Care.
