Red Cross receives gift, so it may give again to hurricane victims
The country felt Hurricane Richard’s wrath over three months ago, and the relief efforts have now dwindled. Sadly, the effects have not been forgotten by many residents who are still struggling to recover from the destructive winds. The Red Cross continues to reach out to those persons, despite recuperating from damages it suffered to its headquarters in a suspected arson last December. Today, the organization that always gives became the beneficiary of a generous donation from Cuello’s Distillery to compliment its efforts. Cuello’s Sales Representative, Shawn Marsden and the Red Cross Director General, Lily Bowman spoke to News Five today about the spirit of giving in Richard’s wake.

“The family of Cuello’s Distillery decided that they would give a donation to the Red Cross because the Red Cross is doing a very good job.”

“We’re handing over some table top stoves; thirty of them.”

“I’d like to say thank you very much on behalf of the people that will receive those stove tops. They are nice little two burner stoves, they work with a little gas tank. And I think there are still a lot of people that were affected by Hurricane Richard, which came in last year, that we haven’t reached in terms of household items and maybe some other people have not been reached as yet. So I know that there is that need out there and they will be more than happy to receive this gift from Cuello’s Distillery.”

“Do you know how it will be distributed? Will you go out and find people or…”

“We were contacted by Cuello’s Distillery last year and we were really hoping to do it along with our distributions that we were carrying out at that time. However, it was not possible so now that we received it today we have to organize a special delivery to distribute these things. But of course we’ll go through our assessments again to see who are the most needy persons that can do with a stovetop.”
