Teenage boys jack girls using toy gun

Three minors are in official custody tonight after they used a toy gun to rob their peers on Saturday evening. According to police reports, a sixteen year old and two fifteen year old boys armed with a silver imitation handgun walked up to three high schoolers who were hanging out at the Lopez Mateo Park and robbed them of their cell phones, cash and personal belongings. But someone saw the crime in progress and alerted the police who arrived in time to catch one of the culprits. The officers soon had the other perpetrators in custody and recovered all the stolen items. Today the minors appeared in the Belize City’s Family Court where they were are all charged with Robbery. Before leaving court, the boys maintained that they had been beaten by the arresting officers. But instead of being sent to the hospital, the sixteen year old has been remanded to the Youth Hostel while the fifteen year olds will be held at the Wagner’s Youth Facility at the Hattieville Prison until June fifth.
