Trail of paint leads to arrest of thief
He didn’t do it deliberately like the fabled Hansel and Gretel, but a Belize City man who stole a bunch of paint was apprehended after his victim followed the trail of wet drippings. Twenty-seven year old James Brown of Lakeview Street pleaded guilty today in Magistrates’ Court to the charge of Theft. It seems that sometime Monday morning Brown made off with thirteen gallons of paint from a nearby residence and when the homeowner, Earl Gentle, discovered his loss he also saw that some of it had spilled on the ground. He followed the trail to a small house occupied by Brown and the police did the rest. At the hearing today Magistrate Dorothy Flowers noticed that Brown was not making much sense and appeared mentally challenged. She remanded him to observation at Rockview Hospital. He will return to court on May sixteenth.
