Taiwanese naval squadron will visit next week
We are used to periodic visits by ships of the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard as well as the U.K.’s Royal Navy, but next week a new flag will fly in Belize City Harbour: that of Taiwan. A training squadron of that country’s navy is making a goodwill tour through the Caribbean that will stop in Belize from April twenty-ninth through May first. In addition to a welcome ceremony at Memorial Park, the squadron’s marching band will perform and its kick boxing team will give a demonstration. On April thirtieth there will be a basketball game between the Taiwanese and B.D.F. Other countries on the itinerary include Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama and Dominica.
