P.U.P. creates new posts in its executive body
In political news, the People’s United Party met in Independence Hall. It was no ordinary executive meeting. In fact, the purpose was to get the nod of the executive body for the creation of new posts which is generally perceived to strengthen the party leader’s standing. Briceno proposed and got the green light to bring the Former Prime Minister Said Musa into the executive as a former party leader. The other big change was the move to bringing Francis Fonseca as a fourth deputy party leader to balance the feuding Mark Espat and Cordel Hyde. The other elected deputy is Dan Silva from the west. The other significant change is Anthony Mahler, who is now Deputy Director of Communications while Bill Lindo and Hugh O’Brien, a former government C.E.O., as Co-Chairmen for policy to replace Anthony Chanona who resigned earlier this year. Meanwhile Doctor Sharmane Saunders has been named as liaison with Civil Society. The changes now go to the central party council on Sunday.
