Dangriga primary school robbed of its computers
On Monday morning students of Christ the King Primary in Dangriga were set to begin long awaited computer classes, their new curriculum facilitated by a generous donation of computers from the Rotaract Club of Spokane, Washington in the U.S.A. Unfortunately, the children never got to boot up their machines as over the weekend thieves broke into the building and made off with six computers, including five Dell laptops. According to Principal Carol Young, the heartless burglars pried the bars off a side entrance and then forced open the wooden door to enter the school’s computer lab. The start of the classes has been indefinitely postponed.
While computers were the target in Dangriga, in San Pedro it was a high powered skiff that was lost to thieves. Tour operator Marvin Reyes told police that sometime Monday night or Tuesday morning his thirty-eight foot Pelican brand boat, named Nikita, sporting twin Yamaha two hundred horsepower engines, was stolen from Woody’s wharf on the south side of the town. Police are asking members of the public to please call police if they have any information on either the San Pedro or Dangriga thefts.
