Traffic accident leaves Cayo motorcyclist critical

A man narrowly escaped death when a Toyota pick-up truck collided head on into his motorcycle on Saturday afternoon in San Ignacio. The mishap occurred around two on Joseph Andrews Drive. Police say twenty-two year old Kenroy Mendez was on a motor cycle heading from the direction of Sacred Heart College towards the Benque Road, when the Toyota pick-up, coming in the opposite direction, made a sudden right turn towards the Bullet Tree Road and straight into Mendez. While Mendez was receiving treatment for injuries to his head and body, police say the driver of the pick-up, believed to be a Guatemalan vendor, fled the scene.
