Merlene Bailey Martinez is new C.E.O. of S.S.B.
From the start, it was clear she was the choice of the political directorate but this afternoon the Social Security Board confirmed that Merlene Bailey Martinez is the new Chief Executive Officer of the fund. According to the S.S.B., the new C.E.O. was selected by the board of directors from among four candidates who applied for the job. Bailey Martinez replaces Dr. Louis Zabaneh who resigned shortly after the general elections. The new C.E.O. is a former public servant who acted as Assistant Accountant General and Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax but she became a household name during the Commission of Inquiry into the Development Finance Corporation. Her appointment takes effect next Tuesday, April fifteenth.
