Charge upgraded for Ladyville shooter
Ladyville resident Lenny Bennett, twenty-three, was charged with Maim when he appeared in Magistrate’s Court today in connection with the shooting of his former friend, twenty-one year old Cristina Zetina. Bennett, a remanded prisoner, was returned to jail until May fourteenth. The charge of Attempted Murder was substituted with Maim because Zetina, who was shot in her left leg, had the leg amputated due to the severity of the injury. The incident occurred around nine p.m. on January twenty-ninth, when Zetina, a resident of Egbert Quilter Avenue, was returning home with her boyfriend. A man, later identified as Lenny Bennett, fired four shots at them, one of them hitting Zetina in her left leg. Shortly before the shooting incident, Bennett had been released from prison after serving a two year term.
