Belize City man jailed for owing court $25,000 …
That same fate will be imposed on another convict if he doesn’t pay up. Nineteen year old Orlando Choc of Ladyville pled guilty to Handling Stolen Goods and Escape today before Magistrate Roberto Ordonez. Because it was his first offence, the judge opted to fine Choc five hundred dollars for being in possession of a stolen DVD player and one hundred and fifty dollars for Escape. The DVD player was one of two items that were stolen during a burglary at the home of twenty-four year old Tanya Cano of Seagull Street in Ladyville on March twenty-third. Choc was arrested, but escaped from the Ladyville Police Station holding cell when the officer in charge opened the door to let out another prisoner. He has until April twenty-eighth to pay the fines or he will get a taste of prison life for seven and a half months.
