Independence Village shooting leaves victim wounded

The weekend’s second reported shooting occurred in Independence Village about three hours later. This time, it would leave a man in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the right side of the chest and abdomen. Twenty-two year old Nicholas Swazo told police that someone inside a green Ford Ranger pickup shot him as he walked in front of the Polyclinic. The victim said he did not recognize his assailant and that the vehicle bore no license plates. Police have no suspects and continue to investigate. Swazo has been transferred to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan for treatment.
