Truck and tour bus collide on Western Highway
Tourists from the cruise ship Norwegian Spirit experienced an unexpected Belizean adventure today when the bus they were traveling in ran into a pickup on the Western Highway. Around nine-thirty this morning Trans Tours was taking a number of passengers by bus to a cave tubing site when upon reaching mile two they collided into a Dodge truck being driven by Rhett Fuller. Exactly what transpired is still not certain as according to investigators both parties are giving different accounts. Fuller, who sustained injuries to his left leg, told News Five off-camera that he was traveling ahead of the bus in the same direction when he indicated that he wanted to make a left-hand turn into Krooman Road. Instead of slowing down, Fuller says the bus driver tried to overtake him and slammed into his vehicle. While Fuller insisted that he had several lights on, including his indicator, a passenger on the bus told us that the collision was not the driver’s fault.

“I was in the front of the bus, we were heading westbound. The big truck was on the right trying to pass. He wanted to take a left hand turn without a blinker and we just smoked him real hard. The bus driver did a good job because if we’d had gone into that ditch we would have hurt some people really bad, but I think everybody made it out alright.”

“People were shaken up, they were scared?”
Cruise Tourist
“Yeah, shaken up. Some people didn’t want to go on the tour anymore, they’ll head back to the boat, drink some beers.”
Up until midday neither party had made their way to the police to give an official account of their story.
