Barrow meets with Bush at White House
While his opponents engage in the political equivalent of gang warfare, Prime Minister Dean Barrow was in Washington today for a meeting with U.S. President George Bush. Along with his fellow Caribbean Prime Ministers Hubert Ingraham of the Bahamas and David Thompson of Barbados, the three leaders engaged Bush on issues of trade, tourism and security, and lobbied specifically for the extension of the Caribbean Basin Initiative. President Bush congratulated all three on the vibrancy of their nations’ democracies as evidenced by the way in which recent elections were conducted. While in Washington, Barrow also took the opportunity to meet with O.A.S. Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza.
