Crooked Tree will host Tilapia Fest

Story PictureCrooked Tree, a village best known for its cashew and increasingly for its fishing, is this Easter weekend staging the second of its kind Tilapia Festival. Village Chairman George Guest says the Saturday and Sunday event promises to be grander than the first fest in 2006.

George Guest, Chairman, Crooked Tree Village
“We’re having the first ever iron man relay race and it’ll be in four parts. The four parts will be from the entrance to Crooked Tree to the first bridge and from the first bridge, the canoe will row along the lagoon up to a point where the simmer will jump out and swim to the long shore and then the runner will run from there to the Calabash Street. We’ve also got the fishing competition so bring along your rod and line and your rod and reel and line and you’re gonna fish for those two days.”

The two-day family festival will also feature educational booths. Proceeds from the event will be used to construct a park near the lagoon.
