Inmate who tricked court into early release back behind bars
When we last left Kevin Dawson, a.k.a. Possum, he was on the run after he swapped identities to trick the court into thinking he was someone else and getting an early release. But the long arm of the law caught up with the fugitive in Corozal on Thursday and this morning he finally had his day in court. Dawson pled not guilty to Drug Trafficking and Escape from Lawful Custody but admitted Committing a Mischievous Act. He is scheduled to reappear in court on April twenty-first. Of note is that Dawson’s five year sentence for burglary will end on April thirtieth but he faces additional time behind bars if convicted of the new charges.
