… While motive unclear in Placencia murder
The second murder occurred on the Placencia peninsula around twelve-thirty this morning. The crime scene was at the Amigos Restaurant and Internet Café in the heart of the village. Police reports are that the owner of the business, thirty-six year old Samuel De Jesus Ortiz had closed for the night and was counting the proceeds of the night’s sales when a man walked in and ordered a fried chicken. Ortiz apparently told the man that the kitchen was closed but that he could sell him a soft drink. However as Ortiz bent over into the cooler to get the drink, the customer attacked him from behind and wrestled away the businessman’s licensed nine millimetre pistol. The armed assailant then shot Ortiz in the left upper arm, the right upper arm and twice in the upper left back. The assailant then took the money from the cash register and Ortiz’s wallet and escaped into the night. The victim died at the scene. While police have no one detained, they are looking for Gregory Casildo for questioning. Viewers should note that Casildo is also wanted for questioning in the murder of another Placencia resident Shannon “Shaggy” Henderson who was killed on February fourteenth. Amigos had opened at its new location, near the football field, only three months ago.
