Downtown paving will wait a while
The “imminent” paving of Albert and Regent Streets is not so imminent after all. A release from the Belize City Council indicates that following discussions with the utility companies responsible for telecommunications, water and electricity, a further two months will be needed to upgrade their underground installations. During that time the National Fire Service will also install some new hydrants and change valves on existing ones. The City Council also announced plans to pave Central American Boulevard, North Front Street and Neal’s Pen Road. Presumably the utilities have also been notified. The Albert and Regent paving is expected to be completed by the end of May and the schedule for Central American Boulevard will be announced shortly. The downtown paving project was originally to be executed earlier this month.
