In the third murder, a Belize City resident was gunned down near Cinderella Plaza Monday night. At midnight, thirty year old Deon Marvin Meighan a resident of Mex Avenue was walking with three friends, two males and one female, when the shooting occurred. A lone gunman with a white shirt over his head walked from the direction of Chon Saan Palace on Kelly Street onto Cinderella Plaza and fired three shots, one of which caught him above the right eye. And by midday today, it appears that police averted another blood bath and recovered a stolen weapon when nineteen year old Eustace Lewis was busted with a nine millimeter gun. The cops allege that he was planning to retaliate Meighan’s murder. The weapon is believed to have been stolen during the June ninth robbery of Dale’s Barber shop on West Canal Street. Police say they intercepted Lewis as he was riding a bicycle in the Racecourse Street area. When Lewis was searched, the cops also found on him various rounds of ammunition. This afternoon, Lewis was charged with one count of unlicensed firearm and ammunition along with one count of handling stolen goods before Revenue Magistrate Edd. P. Usher. He pleaded not guilty to all charges but was denied bail was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until October twenty-first. For another gun charge before the courts, Lewis is due back in court on November ninth. It is reported that Lewis and Meighan are close friends and associates of the George Street area.
