Scotia donates to charity group … and awards customers money
In January, the LifeLine Foundation donated almost ten thousand dollars to two needy organisations but today the tables were turned on the charity group as a local bank stepped up to assist their fundraising efforts. During a brief handing over ceremony this morning, Scotia Bank contributed two thousand dollars to LifeLine representatives. According to Director Kim Simpliss, the money, along with other funds they hope to raise at their Black and White Charity Gala in April, will benefit kids all over the country.

“This donation will go into a fund and we’ll be in turn making this donation to three different organisations, Calvary Temple School, Friends of Paediatrics and Cornerstone Children’s Home in Cayo.”
Sarah Hobbs, Sr. Manager, Business Support, ScotiaBank
“We felt that it tied into our mandate and so we wanted to do something to do something to help them and so it really gave us pleasure this morning to present them with the cheque for two thousand dollars which we know will be put to very good use for the children in Belize City and the Paediatric Foundation as well. It’s something that we feel is very important and as a corporation working in Belize we really want to play our role.”

“Support from the businesses and the public has been good?”
Kim Simpliss
“Yes, it has been good. I have to say thanks to all these organisations. LifeLine, this is our third year having this Black and White Gala and really this year it has really greatly improved and we are really thankful to these organisations because obviously they recognise the great work that LifeLine has been doing.”
The Black and White Gala will be held on April nineteenth at the Belize City House of Culture. For more information on the event, please contact LifeLine at their website, lifelinebelize.com.
Scotia Bank is in a giving mood this month as in addition to the contribution to LifeLine, four of their customers also received a thousand dollars each in the institution’s latest promotion. According to Marketing Manager Josie Andrews, the initiative is meant to encourage customers to save.

“We have Rudolph Gentle from Belmopan, we have Melissa Balderamos Mahler from Belize City, we have Maria Estrella from Orange Walk and yesterday’s winner was Mr. Issac Ranguy from Punta Gorda. The campaign started just this week on Monday and it runs until the end of May.”
“We are trying to get customers to come in and talk to our personal banking officers because there always comes a time when people wish they they’ve had money saved up for a special event or some important goal and so we are encouraging our new and existing customers to come into the bank, open a savings account if they don’t have already one and to have that discussion with our personal banking officers to see exactly how it is that we can help them to achieve their goals.”
