Suspects charged in Cayo, Toledo rapes

A suspect has been arrested in the weekend rape of a San Ignacio woman. He is forty-three year Rolando Castillo of George Price Avenue in Santa Elena. The victim told police that at around two-thirty Sunday morning she got into what she thought was a taxi outside a nightclub. The driver, however, is alleged to have choked her, stole her cell phone and jewelry and raped her at a house in Santa Elena. Castillo has been charged with robbery and rape.

In Punta Gorda another man has been arrested on a rape charge. Twenty-four year old Ashton Martin is accused of raping a twenty-two year old woman employed at one of the islands off the Toledo coast. The assault occurred on Saturday night.
