$13,000 bike stolen from Belize’s best cyclist
A bike jacking is hardly newsworthy these days because it happens so often but when thieves make off with a thirteen thousand dollar machine, it’s big news. According to Marlon Castillo, around seven on Thursday evening he was riding his beach cruiser while pulling his Scott racing bike. But while on George Street, Castillo says two masked men on separate bikes rode up to him, pulled out a handgun and demanded his cell phone, jewelry and the pro-bike. Via telephone this evening, the cyclist’s sponsor Santino Castillo told News Five that he is offering a thousand dollar reward for information leading to the bike. The older Castillo says the incident will not affect Marlon’s participation in the upcoming Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic. Both Castillos hope that because the bike is one of the kind, the perpetrators will experience difficulty in selling it or its unique parts. Anyone wishing to claim the reward should return the bike to Ordonez’s Bike Shop on Pelican Street.
