Lotto winner learns of good fortune on TV

Story PictureOne day after we aired a story that last week’s lotto winner had not claimed the big prize, the lucky ticket holder has stepped forward … and told us he discovered his good fortune by watching News Five. Javier Hoy showed up at the Tropical Gaming office with his wife and father to collect his prize. He told us he has already decided what to do with the money.

Javier Hoy, Lotto Winner
“I don’t’ normally check the tickets after purchase. I had it put up in an area and when I saw the news that no one had claimed I wrote down the numbers and I went to compare the ticket and it was the same numbers.”

Marion Ali
“What are you going to do with the money and how did you come up with the winning numbers?”

Javier Hoy
“The winning numbers were quick pick and I plan to use it to pay off both our mortgages; me and my father’s.”

Marion Ali
“Mr. Woods was on last night giving advice. He’s an old lotto winner, and he was giving the current lotto winner on how to go about prudently investing their money. Did you see that? Did you take his advice?”

Javier Hoy
“Yes I saw his story and I’m sorry to hear what happened to his family. I do believe that I am very focused on what it is that I want to accomplish in life, regardless if I had this winning or not, there are certain goals that I am bound to accomplish and this is a nice boost to get it started.”

George Hoy, Father of Lotto Winner
“When the news came over last night, I think it was Marleni Cuellar that brought over the number, Channel Five, that’s when he check it and he came home and said he won the Lotto. This is great, this is an ease. It takes off some burden. And I believe he will probably save some for his kid for his education.”

The numbers drawn in last Wednesday’s ninety-five thousand dollar jackpot were: 09,12,18,19, and 33. After taxes, Hoy took home eighty thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars. Meanwhile, tonight’s lotto draw stands at fifty-two thousand five hundred dollars.
