Prison officer arrested for theft of accident victim

A man posing as a good samaritan is accused of being nothing more than a common thief. Twenty-seven year old prison officer Jonathan Santos has been charged with Theft following a report by a woman involved in a traffic accident on December twenty-sixth. Twenty-nine year old Denise Westby was injured in the collision which occurred near Hattieville Prison. Santos helped her out of her damaged car and assisted her entry into an ambulance. While inside the rescue vehicle she says Santos advised her to take off her gold chain as it would be stolen by hospital personnel and offered to hand it over to her husband. She gave up the jewelry but when Westby later asked her husband for the chain he said that Santos never gave it to him. Santos was released on two thousand dollars bail and returns to court April seventeenth.
