“Police arrived at the Mussel Creek Bridge on the Bermudian Landing Road where they found a black in colour Isuzu Trooper. In the vehicle at the time, slumped over the steering wheel was the apparent lifeless body of a male person, later identified as Lawrence Cleland. Investigations reveal that Cleland was travelling in his vehicle alone heading towards Belize City from the Scotland Halfmoon area when he apparently collided into the middle portion of the bridge. The police found him alone in the vehicle. The front of the vehicle extensively damaged.”
Family members reported that Cleland’s wallet disappeared from the accident scene. A post mortem examination on Cleland’s body is expected to be conducted this Tuesday.
