Hopkins resident charged in fatal traffic accident
More than a month after a traffic accident claimed the lives of two people, police have arrested and charged one of the drivers involved. Fifty-seven year old Hopkins resident Charles Rubio has been charged with two counts of Manslaughter by Negligence, two counts of Causing Death by Careless Conduct, Drove Motor Vehicle without Due Care and Attention and Negligent Harm. The collision, which occurred at the intersection of the Hopkins Road and the Southern Highway on January fifteenth, involved Rubio’s Ford Ranger pickup and a tow head bound for Dangriga. The crash claimed the lives of Rubio’s grandson, two-year Jafhon Valentine and another passenger in the Ranger, seventy-four year old Angela Gutierrez.
