Guinea Grass man beats fellow villager to death
In the third murder also on Sunday, this time up north in Orange Walk, twenty-two year old Marvin Lennens Stevens of Guinea Grass Village is facing murder charges for the homicide of Roberto Cal, a resident of the same village. Just after midnight Sunday morning, Stevens and thirty-seven year old Cal, got into an altercation. Cal was allegedly hit on the head with a brick and several beer bottles. He succumbed to the injuries at the Northern Regional Hospital. Stevens was detained shortly after and around four this afternoon he was formally charged for Cal’s murder. Deputy O.C. for the Orange Walk Police, Selvin Tillett, says it is not known what led to the altercation between the two men.

“About twelve-fifty-five a.m. Orange Walk police responded to a report in Guinea Grass Village where on arrival they saw a male person identified as Roberto Cal, thirty-seven years, who resides in Guinea Grass Village bleeding profusely from multiple cut wounds to his face and was in a semi-conscious state. Cal was transferred to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead on arrival. Initial investigations reveal that some time around twelve-thirty, the deceased had a misunderstanding with one Marvin Stevens, twenty-two years, who also resides in the said village, where they got into a physical fight where Stevens hit Cal in the head several times with a brick and a Belikin pint causing the said injuries to which he succumbed.”
