Orange Walk election day fire is arson
Orange Walk police have concluded that the fire early on the morning of election day at the Orange Walk East Women’s Group Resource Centre was intentionally set. This morning Michael Middleton of the National Fire Service told News Five that inside the computer room they found a bottle stuffed with a piece of cloth that was soaked with gasoline. Police late this evening said they continue to investigate, hoping the clues left behind could lead them to the arsonist. The building was being used at the time as the campaign office for P.U.P. Orange Walk East Candidate, Doctor Marco Tulio Mendez. That same day the United Democratic Party’s contender—and newly appointed Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture—Marcel Cardona, had denounced the burning of the building.
