11 year old killed in boating accident

Story PictureIt should have been one of the happiest days of his life but a young Dangriga resident died on his birthday following a boating accident. According to police, around eight-thirty on Monday morning, a twenty-five foot skiff captained by forty year old Richard “Bo-Beep” Sjogreen ran over a fourteen foot aluminum boat on the southern side of the Tobacco Caye range. In the smaller vessel were forty-two year old fisherman John Petillo and his eleven year old son Francis. The father was unharmed but the child was declared dead on arrival at the Southern Regional Hospital and was transferred this afternoon to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for a post mortem. According to Petillo, his son didn’t want to go to school yesterday, which is why he ended up on a fishing trip.
