Traffic accident injures police constable

Meanwhile, a police officer is tonight recovering from serious injuries sustained in a traffic accident in the Spanish Lookout community. Around five on Saturday evening constable Dayton Lewis was riding his motorcycle on Centre Road when he broadsided a Toyota Four Runner that suddenly pulled out of a driveway. Lewis suffered serious head and body injuries and was initially taken to the Western Regional Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred in critical condition to the K.H.M.H. where he remains tonight. Up to news time, no charges had been filed against the driver of the S.U.V., thirty-one year old Harim Perez of San Ignacio.
