Citywide motorcade in preparation for carnival

Story Picture A colorful and lengthy motorcade took off this evening from Caesar Ridge Road as part of the much anticipated yearly carnival. This year’s road march will feature five junior and six senior bands that took part in the motorcade through the principal streets of Belize City. It started after five today and will conclude at the House of Culture for the Pan Yaad Concert. The motorcade is a prelude to the carnival road march set for September nineteenth and features the sponsors of the carnival bands and of course, the reveling.

Gregory Vernon, Director, Institute of the Creative Arts
“Before the pan yaad and coming and landing at the pan yaad, would be the carnival motorcade all party of the carnival calendar—of course without pan music there is no carnival. So, we are landing at the house of culture with the carnival motorcade. This is the time that the band get on their vehicle, get on their sponsors vehicle to go through the streets of Belize rallying their crowd—some in their t-shirts, some in costumes, some in last year’s costumes—it’s just a matter of getting everyone to know who they are and rallying their fans to come out for the king and queen and then also come out for the carnival road march on the nineteenth. So, this is one way that the carnival bands will be able to show off their sponsors.”
