Commonwealth observers posted nationwide
On Tuesday’s newscast we spoke on the phone with head of the Commonwealth Expert team, K.D. Knight. This morning our colleagues from the Caribbean Media Corporation met with Knight in San Ignacio to hear his final thoughts on the election process before voting begins tomorrow.
K.D. Knight, Head, Commonwealth Observer Team
“If the arrangements that we have seen hold, then we expect that things should go smoothly. We can’t interfere with the proceedings, we are here to observe. And at the end of the process we will write a report and we’ll be staying here in Belize to write the report because that report is not influenced by the Secretary General of the Commonwealth or anyone from there. It is the report of we who are here observing and, of course, we are not representing our governments. We are here in our individual capacities.”
According to Knight, the six member observation team will be stationed in polling and counting stations across the country to observe the election process.
