Accused arsonist tried to burn down his own house

A Belize City man has been arrested and charged with arson after he tried to burn down his own home. Twenty-nine year old David Usher explained to Magistrate Aretha Ford that he was having trouble with his common law wife and wanted her out of the house … so on Thursday morning he set it on fire. Problem was, only Usher was home at the time and his attempt to torch the small wooden structure was less than successful. When police arrived they found a charred mattress and music speaker, along with a bottle of gasoline nearby. Usher was denied bail and remanded to Hattieville prison until March third.
